Carnival of the Tarot – Party of One

February 18, 2008 at 10:25 pm

My apologies for not posting the Carnival yesterday. We had quite a busy weekend, and it slipped my mind. Not a very good excuse, I’m afraid. But the only explanation I have to offer.

This week we have one entry. Only one, but it is a very good article, and a truly informative entry about Numbers from The Red Tent.

The entry is Part I. And since we have just the one entry, I decided to post Part II as well.

Understanding numbers in any form of Cartomancy is very helpful in forming interpretations. The full articles will be beneficial to anyone in their study of The Cards.

Carnival of the Tarot – Seventeenth Edition

January 27, 2008 at 10:00 am

Ten of WandsIt’s been another busy week here at the Willow Tree household. Cranky cats, exhausted spouses, and sinus headaches abound. Not to mention car repair and noisy neighbors being among the major distractions. Egads, when will life resume it’s lazy pace and allow me to pick up the cards again?

Seriously though, we have been very busy with life’s demands. I’m hoping to resume regular posting in the coming week. We will see what Saturn has planned for us, and if he will allow us a moments leisure to do so.

But we are fortunate to have two excellent entries for our Carnival this week.

Tarot Dame shares a good example of using intuition in reading Tarot in Demotion of Cards in a Reading.

97Stranger offers an example of expanded meanings of one of the Rainring Cards in The Patriarch at Rainring: post-tarot psychological cards.

That concludes this edition. Thank you for joining us this week.

Carnival of the Tarot – Sixteenth Edition

January 20, 2008 at 12:48 pm

yawnWelcome to the newly revived Carnival of the Tarot. As the still sleepy Carnival yawns and stretches, rubs it eyes and sips it’s morning tea, I want to take a moment to thank all contributors for supporting the Carnival with their wonderful entries this week. I also want to thank my readers for being so patient while waiting for the return of the Carnival, and for their continued support of this website during our recent hiatus.

So, without further delay, let’s begin this week’s Carnival.

Gary Vasey presents some insights into the Fool card in Playing the Fool at Asteroth’s Domain.

Apo presents some different thoughts on reading for oneself in The Most Important Person in a Reading..You! posted at 104etal’s Weblog.

Albert Decker presents Oedipal shmoedipal posted at Resonant Enigma. In which it seems a single Tarot card has inspired some lovely art and poetry.

From O-where you can view some images from Traumzeit-Tarot and read some insights into one of the Major Arcana cards from that deck.

That concludes this edition. Thank you for joining us this week.

Carnvial of the Tarot – Fifteenth Edition

November 18, 2007 at 5:30 pm

Welcome to the Fifteenth Carnival of the Tarot.

We have some terrific writing to share this week, so let’s get started right away.

Lynda at Archertarot’s Weblog has written a lovely post about the Brigid of Ireland card in Reasons Why I Love the Haindl, Part I.

Tarot Dame shares a story of her adventures tracking down on out of print deck in Tarot of the Magical Forest – A Synchronous Event.

94 Stranger at Rainring Blog has published parts I and II of the Fourth Masterclass for the Rainring Cards.

Because of the Thanksgiving and Christmas holidays, the The Carnival of the Tarot will be going on hiatus for the rest of the year through Twelfth Night. I plan to resume it on January 13th. Many of us become quite busy this time of year, and will be spending time with family and friends, and observing the Holidays with our own traditions and celebrations.

Thank you all for your support and contributions. I look forward to resuming the Carnival again next year.

Before we begin, I just want to take a moment thank everyone who has supported and contributed to the Tarot of the Carnival, and kept it going for these past few months.

Now on to the Carnival.

On Rainring Blog, 94Stranger has posted Class Three in the Rainring Master Class Series

Arcana XV presents Beginner’s decks? Umm.. yeah, whatever posted at ARCANA XV.

Kapherus at The Art of Cartomancy offers The Four Aces – Lottery Win?, detailing a Four Aces spread which can be good layout to use when you do not have a specific question for the cards.

Thank you for joining us this week.

Carnvial of the Tarot – Thirteenth Edition

November 4, 2007 at 8:13 pm

Welcome to the Thirteenth Edition of the Carnival of the Tarot.

I have been experiencing very low energy this past week. I spent the week recharging my batteries. I have been taking time out for reflection on changes, both in the wide world outside and in my own life. It felt good to spend some time away from my computer. However it is now time for the Carnival. Let’s begin.

Kapherus from The Art of Cartomancy offers bit more in-depth look at some of the symbolism of the playing card court cards in Basic Cartomancy Part 3 – The Court Cards As People

From 94Stranger at Rainring Blog, we have the Second Masterclass in using the Rainring Cards. Also please note that there is Class One has been undergone a revision.

As I wrote nothing for my blog this week, I have no post for this Carnival. But I will be announcing another contest tomorrow. This time the prize is not a brand new item, but is an oracle deck from my personal collection that is in brand new condition, and needs to find a new home. It may be right for you, or may be a nice gift for someone you know. I hope you will stop by tomorrow and see.

That’s it for this week’s Carnival.

Carnival of the Tarot – Halloween Edition

October 28, 2007 at 5:19 pm

witch-cat-moonHalloween falls on Wednesday this year, for those of us who enjoy it as a tradition. It is also observed as Samhain, the word for November in Gaelic languages, and is regarded as the Celtic New Year. It is also knows as All Souls Day in Catholic traditions.

This is a quick carnival. It’s a busy time of year for many of us, and it is reflected in a small number of participants this week.

First, Gypcy Woman presents Tarot Reading for Writer posted at Virtual Worlds.

Then Kapherus from The Art of Cartomancy has an interesting post on the relation between a pack of playing cards and the Tarot in The Ace of Diamonds and the Magician.

The next edition will again be hosted here on next week at the same time.

Carnival of the Tarot – Eleventh Edition

October 21, 2007 at 6:01 pm

Welcome to the Eleventh Edition of the Carnival of the Tarot.

Halloween is nearly here. Our weather this week has been a bit too warm and humid for me to really get into the Halloween mood. But I have still put out my black cats, jack-o-lanterns, witches and candles. I have been watching the leaves change into fiery colors as they slowly begin carpeting the ground. I remain hopeful that by month’s end, autumn weather will reclaim New England.

This week we have a beginning and continuation of two educational series, and welcome a new contributor to the Carnival of the Tarot.

The Rainring Deck is a series of 81 cards. The system for reading them can be a bit complex. 94Stranger has begun a series of online classes to offer “guidance on how to navigate the unfamiliar world of Rainring”. The first link is the Intro to the lessons, followed by the Lesson One in the series.

From the Art of Cartomancy, Kapherus offers Basic Cartomancy Part II – Number Meanings

In her first entry, the Tarot Dame gives a great example of how the Tarot can talk to us, even about the ‘little’ things in life in My King of Wands Phenomenon.

I do not have a post to enter this week, but would like to announce a contest. This week I will be giving away a brand-new copy of Corrine Kenner’s Simple Fortunetelling with Tarot Cards. I’ll be announcing the details of the contest tomorrow, so please return then to find out how you can win.

Carnival of the Tarot – Tenth Edition

October 14, 2007 at 6:00 pm

Ten of CupsWelcome to the Tenth Edition of the Carnival of the Tarot.

When I started this project, I really didn’t know what sort of reaction to expect. The Cartomancy community is a vibrant and creative group of folks, as as a result can be quite unpredictable. But it has been lovely to see such a fine response in contributions and readership. Let’s hope that over the next ten weeks, our little Carnival will continue to grow and thrive.

All are welcome! If you have something to say about Cartomancy, and you have written it in your blog, please join us. There is room for so many more in our Cartomancy Carnival.

Fall weather is here, and many of us in the northern hemisphere have Halloween on our minds. It is definitely a favorite holiday of mine. In the Halloween spirit, Archertarot’s Weblog has a really cool urban-legend inspired spread to share called The Killer in the Backseat.

To help us understand the use of playing cards for divination, we have Playing Card Suit Interactions from The Art of Cartomancy.

Demonstrating the use of the fascinating and thorough Rainring Deck, Peter at Rainring Blog shares the completed version of Rainring Analyzes Tarot.

Here at Willow Tree you can read about the Fantod Pack, an Oracle deck using the artwork of Edward Gorey.

And here ends the Tenth Edition of the Carnival of the Tarot.
